Application Of Vision Technology In Industrial Automation Control Jan 24, 2018

Machine vision is the automatic extraction of useful information from digital images. In industrial settings, the machine vision system pushes the barcode reader technology forward a step further, using image capture and analysis to automate tasks such as monitoring, measuring and counting, rather than just reading barcodes and optical characters.


The machine vision system helps global manufacturers improve product quality, reduce costs and ensure customer satisfaction. Visual systems on smart cameras and PCs are standard in automated inspection systems. Inspectors can manually check the workmanship of the parts, and the machine vision system can do the same with advanced hardware and software, but faster, more reliable and more accurate.


Machine vision is most suitable for high speed, high-precision, continuous operation and/or repeated measurement of the inspection work. For example, in plastic injection-plastic operations, machine vision technology can be used to prevent leakage (missing parts of the operation). In the beverage filling operation, the machine vision system can identify the filling level.

An accurate light source solution can enhance the performance of automatic ID or barcode applications and machine vision applications that are made using the imager. A more dense light source enables faster shutter speeds, which in turn increases the production line speed. Similarly, because of the application of many two-dimensional code (DPM), the correct ray geometry can achieve a stable decoding rate.
